The Red Nose week

Since quite a lot of people wanted another challenge, following the FUN we had with the Paper Clip trading…

Today we start the “Red Nose” week!

The way it goes:

1. Buy a red clown nose. FAST! (you can find one at around one dollar)

2. Put it on for at least 5 minutes, every day, in a different place. For example, while going shopping, in the office, in the taxi, etc (just let your imagination GO WILD!)

3. Post comments to share your experience! (this way you share the fun!)

In case you may think this is foolish, or children’s play, the answer is: Yes, it is. But what is wrong in being a child every once and a while?

And the best part is you will make a LOT of people SMILE. And change their mood to a happier, more cheerful one.

Last night for example, we put on our noses at the Biggest Fountain in the World. And apart from all the people that were wondering what was going on…while smiling and laughing at our red nose faces …there was a girl from Korea, who liked the idea of wearing a nose and making people smile so much, she said she would start it in her own country!

There will be people joining the challenge internationally! :)

So, let’s get started!

The “Red Nose” week is ON!

Started the Red Nose Week early in the morning…

I put the nose on while walking through a park. And walked slowly with a big smile on my face.

    Reactions:
    - a big, big smile from a cute wrinkled auntie :)
    - quite a few amazed looks from smartly dressed and ready to go to work
    - a loud LAUGH from a lady in her 40-s (she really changed my opinion that Singaporeans are all serious)
    - a guy honking me from his bike to show his appreciation (he may also have wanted to tell me: Get out of my way!!…but who knows?)

    :)

Our first clown meeting was a real blast!
We made people really laugh and of course we’ve been happy as well. We didn’t just put on our noses we also interacted with the audience, took pictures with them, cleaned their shirts, gave them snacks the whole lot.

Today I put on my nose in the bus, I was looking serious until two girls where pointing at me and started laughing. Then other people realised my red nose and had to smile as well.

Start today and make people SMILE!
    ;)

Just returned from ToastMasters, the public speaking association.

    Gave a speech…guess how?
    Wearing the red nose!!

I acted out like a clown in the speech…and also told them about the whole point of wearing the nose: putting a SMILE on people faces!

Warm reactions came from their side, from:
“I have never seen a speech like this before” (coming from a guy who had been in ToastMasters for more than 10 years!!)
    to
“I will buy a red nose to my wife!”

    They loved it!

    So, it is working wonders!
Will keep you posted with tomorrow’s adventure!

so the past couple of days have been red…

since the red nose challenge i have been skeptical because its slightly uncomfortable, but to live you must embrace so on thursday morning, sitting on the mrt train during morning rush hour, i decided to put on my extra nose! It made me smile, it was ridiculous! Reactions were mixed some people smiled, and some people gave the what the heck look.. but it was worth seeing the people smile… SMILING is so EPEDEMIC

so on friday i wore my red nose in the office, everyone laughed, i think it really should be monday morning routine where everyone wears a read nose to take away monday morning blues….

later on that day in raffles mrt at end of the day rush hour, i walked around with my nose, my friends didnt find it amusing and just walked away.. hehehe… but the reaction was slightly unusually no one smiled, or looked.. i imagine they thought I was a bit MAD… but there is a little MADNESS in everyone

    heheh :)
i keep my red nose in my office for now, i used my scarf to cover up my nose (like a veil) then went to my colleagues desk and surprised them (bcoz she’s having a very stressed week….) it worked :)

maybe i should wear this in a more public place & see :)

With a bit of delay, as yesterday night was the Orthodox Easter and we had a delicious dinner, here is how the Red Nose went yesterday.

This time, I wore it in the Orchard Road MRT station (one of the central subway stations in Singapore)

Since it was weekend, the place was packed with policemen. Now, I didn’t quite know how they would take it…was actually a bit concerned :D
But the NOSE did it again. They Smiled!

I also tried to get myself a free ride on the MRT. The Lady at the counter laughed, said: “What a nice red nose!”. And then continued: “And you still need to pay!” (Oh well, it was worth a shot)

Then, on the MRT ride, I got a couple of different reactions: from people who were so lost in their thoughts they did not even notice a 1.90 white man wearing a red nose (even if I was standing in front of them), to others who looked like thinking: “What is with the mad man!”

But, most importantly, quite a lot of people smiled. A Singaporean couple actually started talking to me. A bunch of children cracked up, as well as a grey haired, Chinese Uncle. I can almost bet he had not seen to many clowns walking around in the MRT!

And one more Red Nose experience: wore it on Orchard Road (on of the main boulavards in Singapore), in the morning.

The time of the day when people are rushing to work, some half asleep, some with a big frown…anyways, not too many smiling faces, that’s for sure!

Oh, one more thing. I was wearing my smart clothes. They go perfectly with the nose, by the way.

You can imagine what a sight i must have been!
And again, it seems that the old people liked me the most. Especially an old lady. She saw me from quite far, and she started almost roaring with laughter. I even thought she is not feeling well!

Plus she even kept on laughing after i passed by her! :)
    Success!!

As for the rest of the people, some smiled, and most did not even notice me.
I mean, who can blaim them, it was 8.20 in the morning…:)

I have the red nose with me nearly every day. The nose makes a wonderful icebreaker and you never get bored. Last weekend I’ve been waiting for a friend at a huge busstop. To make the waiting more fun I took my nose and welcomed the arriving people, guiding them the way to the checkpoint. I couldn’t put a smile on every face - I am sure some people thought I am really weird. But this red nose session gave me energy for the whole day :)
